Cavite Fleet’s Hajji Ocampo was on point last Sunday, displaying his most dominant performance to date, as he bagged all finals spots in team LURC’s concept race offering “King of the Hill 2”! Yes, the amiable captain of the southern powerhouse team swept all 5 places to bag the 10K cash prize, 5 trophies, and premium Tamiya kits which included a limited edition Knuckle Breaker blue special! It was a show of utter track mastery for Hajji.
Early on in the race it was pretty much clear that it was going to be a long day for the competition. Heat after heat, Hajji scored wins and clocked faster and faster. By the quarterfinal stage, all but one car was Hajji’s. Only fellow team mate Nestor Torres managed to squeeze in the quarters picture. But that was the farthest that any out of the more than close to 1,000 strong competition can go. Hajji landed all of the semifinal slots en route to the 1-2-3 finish. This feat was accomplished against a formidable opposition from other powerhouses like teams Konoha, LURC, hpCORE, and perennial contenders eRacers, MIB, Galas, and Elite. With such a convincing win, there’s nothing left to doubt that Hajji holds a strong cause for the year’s Racer of the Year honors.
Who will step up to hamper Hajji’s advance? The challenge is up for the rest of the field to take. Hajji though is welcome to all takers, and would more than likely take what the opposition can throw at him – and deliver more in return! As the rest of the 2013 season unfolds, the race to be the Racer of the Year is still open, albeit the road was made narrow by the current form of the 2012 top racer. Will Hajji fashion a repeat this year? The answer may not be too far out the horizon. Hail Hajji! Hail the King of the Hill!
Special kudos goes out to team LURC, especially to team captain Chris, as they were able to give away the guaranteed 10K cash prize and all the loot that comes with it. Notwithstanding the number of registered entries, team LURC still delivered the thrill and prizes everyone expected. Truly an example that other racing teams can emulate. The TM.org committee salutes you guys! Good work! \m/
